Current Volunteer Opportunities
Christmas Giving
- Volunteers to serve in our Midtown office to coordinate Christmas giving,
respond to e-mail and telephone inquiries and communicate with donor organizations
Refugee Resettlement
Training for Refugee Support
Saturday, September 27th
- Apartment set-up for new refugees: available during weekday mornings and
able to perform minor physical labor (ex: assemble bed frames)
- Administrative assistant in midtown, during daytime office hours
Family Enrichment Program
Immigration Program
- Office/administration assistance: filing and data entry
- Interpreters (Chinese, Arabic, Farsi, Karen, Chin, Burmese)
- Volunteer (pro bono) attorney
- Scott’s Run event volunteers: Saturday morning, October 4th, help
with set-up, registration, guard the route, and cheer on the runners 6:00
to 9:00 a.m.
Parish & Social Justice Ministry
- Volunteers interested in organizing and teaching social justice
Pregnancy, Parenting & Adoption Services
- Church representatives: organize within your parish or church to assist
parents
- Data entry and filing
Village of St. Joseph Counseling Services
- Pro-bono licensed counselors
- Thresholds mentors: train inmates in thoughtful decision making,
next training: October 11-12

Agency Volunteers
- Speakers Bureau: educate people about our programs
- Volunteer Service advisory committee members help with recruitment and appreciation
- Research assistance: assist with grant writing
- In-kind donations assistance
- Public Relations activities

- Bachelor’s level practicum for social work and human services majors
Indirect Service Activities
Indirect Service Activities involve little or no direct contact with our clients, but provide support for people in need. These opportunities are appropriate for groups of all ages but are especially ideal for groups of 16 years of age or younger.
