Adoption Services

To contact our Adoption Intake Department, please call 404-885-7275 or email ppahelp@archatl.com.

Our adoption program is a cooperative, open adoption service.  In a cooperative, open adoption, birth parents and adoptive parents select each other, meet and agree on an ongoing relationship that is centered on the best interest of the child. We believe that this approach benefits all of those involved in the adoption process.

Here are some of the benefits of an open adoption relationship:

  • You and your child will have an opportunity to know his/her birth parents;
  • Your child could have a relationship with their birth family, which gives the child a true sense of who he/she is and where he/she came from;
  • As adoptive parents, you will have access to full information about their child’s heritage and social/medical history, and can therefore, respond more effectively to the unique needs of your child.

Our services include:

  • Preparation and training for becoming an adoptive parent,
  • Provision of home study and administration services,
  • Facilitation of and support throughout the adoption process.

We recognize that adoption is a lifelong process that significantly changes one’s life, and to that end we offer counseling, education and support to everyone involved in the adoption process.

Post Adoption Services

Post Adoption Services: 404-978-2777 or email ppahelp@archatl.com

Services are for all participants in the adoption triad that request services for support.  These services include:

  • Non-identifying information
  • Counseling
  • Search and Reunion
  • Information and Referral on support groups, therapists and reading material

According to Georgia law, adoptees may request a search on their own after they turn 21 years old. Before an adoptee reaches age 21, adoptive parents must request this service on their behalf.
A post adoption conference is required before an active search to help provide the participants with an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers about various aspects of search, reunion and other post adoption issues.  Participants have the chance to explore emotions, expectations, experiences and possible outcomes of contact.  Participants gain knowledge of themselves, a perspective of adoption from the other triad member’s points of view and are better prepared to meet the challenges and demands that contact with either family entails.
