Our adoption program is a cooperative, open adoption service.
In a cooperative, open adoption, birth parents and adoptive parents select each other, meet and agree on an ongoing relationship that is centered on the best interest of the child. We believe that this approach benefits all of those involved in the adoption process.
Here are some of the benefits of an open adoption relationship:
- You and your child will have an opportunity to know his/her birth parents;
- Your child could have a relationship with their birth family, which gives the child a true sense of who he/she is and where he/she came from;
- As adoptive parents, you will have access to full information about their child’s heritage and social/medical history, and can therefore, respond more effectively to the unique needs of your child.
Our services include:
- Preparation and training for becoming an adoptive parent,
- Provision of home study and administration services,
- Facilitation of and support throughout the adoption process.
We recognize that adoption is a lifelong process that significantly changes one’s life, and to that end we offer counseling, education and support to everyone involved in the adoption process.
