Behold: Peace in the Holy Land
The Parents Circle–Families Forum, A CRS Partner for Peace

Adobe PDF Download Flyer

On Monday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. in McDonough Hall at Holy Spirit Parish, a Palestinian and an Israeli will jointly share their stories of losing loved ones to the violence in the Holy Land, and their personal commitment to peace and reconciliation. They are among 500 bereaved families of Israel and Palestine who are members of the “Parents’ Circle - Families’ Forum”, a partner of Catholic Relief Services (CRS). This program is sponsored by the CRS Southeast Region and the Archdiocese, through the Parish and Social Justice Ministries program of Catholic Charities. See flyer for more information.

Speakers' Information

Mr. Mazen Faraj and Mr. Rami Elhanan are members of the Parents’ Circle–Families’ Forum, an association of more than 500 Israeli and Palestinian families who are victims of terror or war, and who believe that the time has come to end the Israel-Arab conflict through dialogue and listening to the pain of each other. They tell a compelling story. They support peace, reconciliation and tolerance.

Mr. Mazen Faraj grew up in a refugee camp near Bethlehem. In April 2002, during fighting near the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Mazen’s 62 year old father, Ali, went to buy food for the family, passing near the Church. An Israeli Defense Force soldier killed him, mistaking his bags of food for something else.

Mr. Rami Elhanan was born in Jerusalem to an Auschwitz survivor and a seventh generation Jerusalemite. In September, 1997, Rami’s 14-year old daughter, Smadar, was killed in Jerusalem by a Palestinian suicide bomber.
