The Dr. Michael M.E. Johns Fund
Catholic Charities of Atlanta created the
Dr. Michael M.E. Johns Fund. The proceeds from this fund will
provide medical relief, medical supplies, prescriptions,
and other assistance to refugees and victims of natural disaster.
Catholic Charities will carry out Dr. Johns’ legacy to improve medical
help and support for those most in need.
Dr. Johns assumed the post of Chancellor for Emory University on
October 1, 2007.
Most recently , he served as Executive Vice President for Health
Affairs and Director of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences
Center and Chief Executive Officer of Emory Healthcare at Emory University.
He established Woodruff Leadership Academy to help carry out Emory’s
mission for teaching, research and patient care, and he oversaw the
most extensive facilities improvement in Emory history. He is also
responsible for consolidating Emory’s clinics and hospitals into Emory
Healthcare, now the largest, most comprehensive health-care system
in Georgia. Dr. Michael M. E. Johns impacted the lives of thousands
of people in Georgia for the better.
In addition to leadership positions for medical organizations too
numerous to list, he also serves on many private-sector and philanthropic
boards, including Catholic Charities’ Board.
